As Obama gave one of his final midterm stump speeches in Bridgewater, Connecticut, on Saturday, a crowd of hecklers began to shout about the lack of funding given to the global fight against AIDS. The president looked "irritated" and told the protesters, "We're funding global AIDS (prevention) and the other side is not—so I don't know why you find this a useful strategy." Obama also told the crowd—with a special nod to the interrupting activists—that his first priority after the elections would be the downturn economy. "We're not going to be able to do anything until we get the economy fixed." Last month a similar incident occurred when Obama gave a speech at a Democratic fund-raising event in New York City.
