Pfizer announced another major recall for cholesterol-reducing medication Lipitor because consumers continued to complain of a heinous odor from the bottle and packaging. Lipitor was already recalled earlier last year when the company removed 19,000 bottles from pharmacy shelves. The Food and Drug Administration says there is no contamination in the medication. "Currently available data indicate that serious adverse health effects have not resulted from ingestion of drugs or foods contaminated," the FDA said. Research shows that the contact made between the bottles and the shipping pallets used to transport and deliver the medication may be producing the odor. The Pfizer website says that patients should still continue to take their medication since the stench does not have any adverse affects on the pill.
