Stocks closed Thursday at their highest levels since just before Lehman Brothers failed two years ago. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 219.71 points, or 1.96 percent, to 11434.84, on the strength of stocks including Bank of America, J.P. Morgan Chase, and Caterpillar. They were boosted in part by news that the Federal Reserve was going to inject additional stimulus into the economy.
