MSNBC host Keith Olbermann was suspended indefinitely without pay Friday for violating company policy by contributing to political campaigns. The Countdown anchor gave the maximum amount to three Democratic candidates last week—Jack Conway in Kentucky and Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona. The latter two donations, each for $2,400, came on the same day that Grijalva appeared on Olbermann’s show. NBC has a rule against political donations. In a statement, Olbermann said, “I did not privately or publicly encourage anyone else to donate to these campaigns.” But MSNBC President Phil Griffin responded Friday afternoon: "I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."
