U.S. News and World Report is dropping its monthly print edition. The magazine’s editor, Brian Kelly, issued a memo saying that the December issue will be the last monthly issue sent to subscribers, though print issues will continue to be available on newsstands, and print guides to colleges, history, personal finance, and other topics will continue to be published. U.S. Media News Group President Bill Holiber said on the magazine's website that the decision "allows us to continue to grow our online business" and take advantage of new distribution platforms. U.S. News was founded in 1933 and merged with World Report in 1948. Along with Newsweek and Time, it was considered one of the nation’s major news weeklies. In 2008 it went from being a weekly publication to a biweekly, then six months later it went to being a monthly.
