Perhaps he can get a refund: Kanye West actually hired a public-relations consulting firm to coach him for his disastrous interview last week with the Today show’s Matt Lauer. Former President George W. Bush, promoting his new book last week, called Kanye’s Katrina-era accustation that Bush doesn’t care about black people “one of the most disgusting moments of [his] presidency,” and Lauer asked for Kanye’s reaction. When Today show staff showed footage of Kanye’s confrontation with Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards during his response, though, the rapper became visibly upset. “I didn’t need you guys to prompt my emotions,” he said. In retaliation, Kanye condemned the interview even before it was aired, and canceled a performance he was to give on the Today show.
