The U.S. and South Korea have begun military naval drills on the Yellow Sea—a move meant to serve as a “deterrence” to North Korea after this week’s deadly attack. The nuclear-powered USS George Washington sporting 75 fighter jets has been dispatched to the Yellow Sea for the occasion. In response to the planned exercises, which the Pentagon describes as "defensive in nature," North Korea has issued a threat against both nations stating that if the U.S. continues to deploy its ships in the Yellow Sea, they won’t be able to “predict the consequences.” South Korea is bulking up its military defense in preparation for any civilian attack from the North, and meanwhile, China has called an emergency meeting of six countries in response.
