A crowded slate of new releases over the long Thanksgiving weekend couldn’t stop the Harry Potter magic, as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out ahead for the second week in a row, with $76.3 million. In second place, Disney’s Tangled outperformed expectations and took in $69 million—with some help from the extra ticket price of 3-D theaters, of course. Other new debuts included Christina Aguilera’s Burlesque, with $17.2 million, and Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Love and Other Drugs which earned only $14 million. Overall, the strong box-office numbers were 5 percent off from last year’s record frame.
