The Obama White House appears poised to add two Washington veterans to its ranks. William M. Daley, the former Clinton commerce secretary, is expected to join the administration as chief of staff. Gene Sperling, an adviser to Timothy Geithner at the Treasury Department, is the likely successor to Larry Summers at the National Economic Council, holding the top economic policy job in the White House. Sperling had the same gig in the Clinton White House. Adding Sperling and Daley would help the president by adding two men experienced in governing in a bipartisan environment. Obama said he expected quick change in filling newly opened holes in his administration. "We're not going to be dilly-dallying," Obama said.
