Bernie Madoff's secretary, Annette Bongiorno, has been placed under house arrest in New York as she awaits trial on charges of conspiracy and securities fraud. According to authorities, Bongiorno was in on Madoff's multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, incurring wealth she then spent on frivolous luxuries while thousands of clients lost their life savings. Prosecutors allege she deposited $920,000 in her own account from 1975 to 2008 and withdrew more than $14 million in investor funds during the same period. Authorities continue to investigate the Madoff scandal, focusing particularly on the felon's brother Peter and son Andrew. Madoff's eldest son Mark was also investigated before he committed suicide last month.
