Jared Lee Loughner, the 22-year-old suspected of perpetrating the shooting rampage that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in the ICU and six others dead, appears to have had a long fixation on his congresswoman. A safe in his home contained a form letter from Ms. Giffords’ staff thanking him for showing up at a 2007 public event much like the one on Saturday. It also contained an envelope with hand-written notes including the words “My assassination,” “I planned ahead,” and Giffords’ name. A friend of Loughner’s said he complained about Giffords’ treatment of him after the 2007 event. Loughner has been charged with five felony counts and is due in court on Monday at 2 p.m. MST. He may seek representation from the Unabomber's lawyer.
