Renato Seabra, the 20-year-old model accused of murdering a 65-year-old gay Portuguese journalist in a Times Square hotel they’d been staying at since New Year’s, has told police that he wanted to cure his victim of “homosexual demons.” Seabra says he castrated Carlos Castro with a corkscrew before allegedly killing him. Police believe that Seabra and Castro dated for many months before traveling to New York together, and that Seabra was upset Castro would not take him shopping. It appears Seabra had some demons of his own: His family insists that he was straight. "My son was not Carlos Castro's lover," his mother told Portuguese TV. "From the beginning, he never hid his sexuality, which is heterosexual."
