Maybe she’d have made a more ruthless senator than it seemed: It was Caroline Kennedy who killed the History Channel miniseries The Kennedys, an eight-episode show that planned to show the famous family at its best and worst. How'd she do it? She threatened Disney, which owns ABC and A&E, History's parent company, with pulling out of a deal to promote the release of recordings her mother, Jackie Onassis, made with Arthur Schlessinger in 1964. The never-heard recordings are set to be released on the 50th anniversary of JFK's inauguration by Hyperion, which is also owned by Disney. Caroline plans to be heavily involved in promoting the recordings and a book being released alongside them. But she said wouldn't do it if The Kennedys aired. ABC, which will air the Onassis tapes, decided to kill the $25 million show, which stars Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes, at the last minute.
