Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa and renowned anti-apartheid leader, was hospitalized in South Africa Thursday for routine tests. As media attention grew on the visit, the office of the current South African president, Jacob Zuma, said that the 92 year old “is comfortable and is well looked after by a good team of medical specialists.” Mandela was jailed for 27 years before he became the country’s first black president in 1994.
