Addressing reporters at the White House, President Obama made his first comments on Egypt since its president, Hosni Mubarak, vowed to step down before the next elections. “We hear your voice,” he said to the Egyptian people, calling for an “orderly transition” of power that “must begin now.” Obama also stressed that the transition away from Mubarak’s reign should include a “broad spectrum of voices” as well as opposition parties.
