After the White House got caught off guard by Mubarak's non-resignation yesterday, they upped the pressure on the Egyptian president, telling him he needed to do more to satisfy the protesters or the crisis would get worse. Yesterday White House officials were told by Mubarak's aides that the president Thursday step down, and then were surprised when he didn't. "We have good intelligence," a White House official told ABC News. "But we can't get inside someone's head." When they saw the furious reaction of the protesters to Mubarak's speech, the White House pushed the Egyptian government to do more. "Not to satisfy us," said an official, "to satisfy them."
