This year's awards season will not end with the Oscars: Comedy Central and MTV Networks just announced the nominations for their first-ever Comedy Awards ceremony, which will air on April 10. The competition includes 15 film and television categories and the ceremony’s Board of Directors, who chose the nominees, is made up of seasoned comedians including Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Conan O'Brien, Joan Rivers, Chris Rock, and Jon Stewart. 30 Rock leads with seven nominations and battles fellow Emmy favorites The Office and Modern Family, as well as the more overlooked It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Eastbound & Down in the Best Comedy Series categories. Easy A leads with four nods in the film categories, beating out Kick-Ass and Get Him to the Greek. After hearing he was nominated for his stand-up special, Ricky Gervais announced, "It is an honor to be nominated for my stand up at this, the first-ever ‘The Comedy Awards.’ In 68 years time, I intend to host it and get it cancelled."
