A Florida father who allegedly burned his son with toxic chemicals was charged Thursday with attempted murder. Jorge Barahona's bail was set earlier Thursday at $1 million. Victor Barahona, 10, had been found clinging to life after being coated in a substance that doctors have not yet been able to identify. Doctors said Victor's burns are "progressing" and said he is unable to interact or move while awake and there are signs his kidneys are failing. Police later found the partially decomposed body of his twin sister, Nubia, in the back of Barahona’s red pickup truck, although authorities are not sure how or when she died and Barahona has not been charged in her death. State officials said the Department of Children and Families had received a tip from Barahona’s 6-year-old granddaughter on Feb. 10 about Barahona possibly abusing the adoptive children.
