Violent protests in Libya showed no signs of cooling on Saturday, as sporadic reports from the walled-off nation revealed scenes of chaos, army snipers opening fire, and at least a dozen more dead. In Libya’s second-largest city, Benghazi, 15 were reported dead when troops reportedly opened fire on a group attending a funeral. With the government controlling internet access, it’s difficult to verify the extent of the clashes, but Human Rights Watch estimates that 84 people have died so far in the popular uprising. Protesters have blamed the army’s violence on President Muammar Qadaffi, who has led the nation since a 1969 coup.
