Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee became the latest Republican to speak out against the Afghan War, saying Wednesday that he believes there is no “endgame.” Huckabee said he doesn’t trust Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and that his doubts go as far back as January 2006. “I don’t know [what to do next],” said Huckabee at an event sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. Huckabee said he’s asking “people” for guidance on what to do in the nine-year war. Huckabee compared the country to the “surface of the moon,” said the country’s only crop is poppies that provide heroin, and said Karzai’s government is “so incredibly and hopelessly corrupt.” Skepticism over the Afghan War policy has been spreading among the GOP ranks, with Huckabee becoming the most high-profile Republican to speak out against it.
