That was the sound of the other shoe dropping. Publisher Judith Regan said five years ago that someone at News Corporation had asked her to lie to federal investigators about an affair with Bernard Kerik—but she didn’t say who. Now a new affidavit unmasks the executive: Roger Ailes, the controversial chairman of Fox News. Even juicier, Regan has a recording to prove it. The publishing star, who was fired from News Corp.’s HarperCollins in 2006, claims Ailes asked her to hide an affair with Kerik from investigators looking into Kerik’s nomination for secretary of homeland security. News Corp. says that Ailes is the man on the tape, but insists he did not ask her to lie to anyone.
