U.S. officials are ratcheting up their tough talk against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. After a defected minister said last week that Gaddafi had personally ordered the 1988 terrorist bombing—which killed 270 people when a Pan Am plane over Lockerbie, Scotland blew up—Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she’s asked the FBI and Justice Department to look into prosecuting Gaddafi, whose regime is teetering on the brink of collapse. Abdelbaset Al-Megrahi was convicted of the attack in 2001 after Gaddafi agreed to cooperate with an investigation, but was freed in 2009 on compassionate grounds. Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Robert Gates says 400 Marines are on board a navy ship being sent to Libya.
