You don’t see this every day. A Washington state woman accused of pension fraud was arrested when she attempted to open a bank account in her dead mother’s name—while disguised as her late mother. According to Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo, Loewen B. Craft, 59, was sporting a gray wig and aging makeup at a credit union branch in Ferndale, Washington. Craft was met there by Detective John Allgire, who arrested her for investigation of first-degree identity theft, criminal impersonation, and multiple counts of forgery. The sheriff alleges that Craft fraudulently collected over $145,000 in pension benefits since her mother, Betty Becker, passed away in 2007.
