Aaron Thomas, the suspect in 17 rapes over the span of 13 years in four different states, tried to hang himself in his New Haven, Connecticut, jail cell. Thomas was arrested Friday after police matched a DNA sample from a cigarette put to a profile of the suspect known as the “East Coast Rapist.” Police had been hunting the serial rape suspect for a decade, but stepped up the search this week with a new website and billboard ad campaign. He's being held on $1 million bond.
