Here we go again: the producers of the troubled Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark said Tuesday they will be shutting down the musical for two to three weeks and delay the opening to significantly overhaul the production. Meanwhile, the producers and director Julie Taymor remained in discussions about her future with the show. Bono, who co-created the show, is directly involved in the talks over Taymor’s future. The $65 million production is already twice as expensive as any other show in Broadway history and its opening has been delayed five times, with a sixth delay soon expected. The musical has suffered setbacks including the death of a major producer, near-bankruptcy, and several serious injuries during performances.
