Nobel laureate Mohamed ElBaradai, the former head of the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog agency, will run for president of Egypt when elections are held later this year. "When the door of presidential nominations opens, I intend to nominate myself,” he told a television reporter Wednesday. ElBaradai also criticized proposed constitutional amendments as superficial: While they would set term limits and allow opposition parties to run for president, they would not change the laws governing the creation of political parties, which, ElBaradai said, would allow the remains of Hosni Mubarak’s party and the Muslim Brotherhood to control parliament.
