Philip William McKinley, who directed The Boy from Oz, will take over from Julie Taymor as the director of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Taymor was pushed out Wednesday—the Times says it was because of the show’s negative reviews and her refusal to make changes the producers wanted. In recent weeks, Taymor frequently rebuffed suggestions for improvement, and The Daily News says Taymor’s decision to tinker with Bono’s score didn’t help things: “If Bono had wanted Taymor to stay, she'd still be here," one source says.
