John Baker, a musher from Western Alaska, has won the Iditarod dog-sled race. The 48-year-old Baker had previously finished in the top 10 on 11 different occasions but had never won before. His final time is expected to be two to three hours better than the record from 2002 of 8 days, 22 hours. This was the first year that race officials allowed GPS tracking devices.
