Sorry, advertisers: Microsoft will release a new version of Internet Explorer Tuesday that includes a do-not-track tool that will block companies from monitoring surfing habits. The browser will send out a notice to sites that users do not wish to have their data tracked; however, the tracking companies must agree to oblige the users’ requests. So far, no tracking company has publicly done so. The new version of IE will also allow users to specify specific companies they do not want to allow to track their data. Mozilla Corp. is working on a no-tracking version of Firefox, while Google and Apple have not announced plans for do-not-track versions of their browsers.
