Highly radioactive water is leaking directly into the Pacific Ocean from an eight-inch crack in a pit full of contaminated water at Japan's damaged nuclear plant. The air directly above the water registered 1,000 millisieverts an hour. The director of Japan's nuclear safety agency also says higher than normal levels of radiation have been detected 25 miles south of the Fukushima plant, much farther than previously reported. Workers will try to patch the crack with concrete, but it is still unclear where the radioactive water in the pit came from.
