A new chapter for Eman al-Obeidi: She is now out of government custody and with her family in Tripoli. Al-Obeidi had not been seen publicly since she was dragged away from journalists as she tried to tell them of her imprisonment and rape by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces. On March 26, she burst into a Tripoli hotel occupied by foreign journalists and told them she had been held by Gaddafi’s forces for two days and raped by 15 men. She was then dragged away and pushed into a car. The Libyan government has repeatedly claimed she had been freed, but her family said they had no idea where she was.
