Parts of Kentucky and Missouri were evacuated Monday after heavy rains prompted flood fears. Forecasters said severe storms will bring even more rain than the 10 to 15 inches dumped already this weekend across the lower Ohio and Mississippi River Valleys. In Poplar Bluff, Missouri, located about 150 miles southwest of St. Louis, officials worried that a catastrophic failure of a levee along the Black River was imminent, and 1,000 people were evacuated by Monday morning. Dozens of roads were closed Monday through Kentucky and Missouri due to flooding and flash flooding.
