Google unveiled on Wednesday the first laptops using the company’s Chrome operating system. The Acer-made model will sell for $349 and the Samsung-made model will sell for $429, starting June 15 at retailers like Best Buy and Amazon. Students will also be given the option to rent laptop for $20 per month, while corporate customers will also be offered $28-a-month subscriptions. Because they will run mostly web-based applications, the computers will boot up in only eight seconds; however, they will have only limited capabilities when offline.
