Disney knows a franchise opportunity when it sees one. The media company filed an application to trademark “SEAL Team 6,” the name of the special operations group that killed Osama bin Laden, just two days after the al Qaeda leader's death. Disney's trademark applies to clothing, footwear, toys, games, Christmas ornaments, snow globes, and other items. It usually takes nine to 12 months for a trademark application to be approved. A computer game publisher applied for the same patent in 2004 but abandoned the trademark two years later.
