Sony CEO Howard Stringer says he cannot guarantee the security of his company’s videogame network. The company shut down many of the services of its PlayStation Network when a security breach compromised the personal information of more than 100 million users. After several weeks the company restored part of PSN over the weekend, with many new security measures in place. But Stringer say maintaining security is a “never-ending process,” and he cannot say that anyone is “100 percent secure.” Sony had faced criticism for its initial delay in releasing information about the security breach, but Stringer says it would have been “irresponsible” to have done otherwise. Users do not seem to mind so far: company officials say that in the two days since the services have been restored, only “a very small percentage” of calls have been from customers looking to cancel accounts.
