British police said Friday they had uncovered evidence that there were actually “hundreds” of phones hacked by the News of the World. Metropolitan Police lawyers said notes seized from private investigator Glenn Mulcaire’s house showed he had some 149 mobile password numbers and 400 unique voicemail numbers—both of which are used to access messages left on cellphones. Prior to Friday, police believed he only had 91 password numbers. Police said they are uncovering more evidence in an investigation called Operation Wheeting. Meanwhile, actor Jude Law has been added to the list of test cases that will be tried in the High Court. Law’s former girlfriend, Sienna Miller, has indicated she will take £100,000 from News Group Newspapers instead of going to trial.
