Aren’t there better ways to prove you’re over the moon? Los Angeles police took a woman into custody Thursday after she allegedly attempted to sell a possible moon rock for $1.7 million. Moon rocks are considered “national treasures,” and it is illegal to sell them—and further, NASA suspects the moon rock could be fake. “It’s possible this is a moon rock, but it has to be tested first,” said Gail Robinson, deputy inspector of NASA. The woman, who was not identified, had been the target of a months-long sting by undercover NASA officials.
