According to a report that aired Sunday night on CBS’ 60 Minutes, cyclist Lance Armstrong’s former teammate, Tyler Hamilton, claims that Armstrong and other team leaders encouraged, promoted, and took part in a doping program. Hamilton claims he saw Armstrong take performance-enhancing drugs, EPO and testosterone, and saw him receive an rule-breaking blood transfusion. He also claims doping was going on with the U.S. Postal team before Armstrong joined in 1998; that PEDs were handed to cyclists in white lunch bags; team doctors and managers encouraged doping; and team members were told to give blood that would be transfused back into their body at a later date. The 60 Minutes report also alleged Armstrong’s teammate and close friend George Hincapie testified to a grand jury that he and Armstrong took PEDs. Armstrong, through his attorney, has denied both Hamilton’s allegations, and that Hincapie testified against him.
