The woman who accused two New York City police officers of rape spoke out for the first time since their acquittal, saying her “heart broke” when she heard the news. “Everything they say about the difficulties of a rape trial is sadly true,” said the 29-year-old, who now lives in San Francisco. The two officers, Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata, were acquitted of rape last week but found guilty of official misconduct and were subsequently fired by the NYPD. The alleged victim praised the NYPD and Mayor Michael Bloomberg for firing the officers and yanking their pensions.
