A well-known Pakistani journalist, Syed Saleem Shehzad, was found dead Tuesday. Shehzad, who reported mainly for the Hong Kong-based Asia Times Online and the Italian news agency Adnkronos International, reportedly disappeared in a posh part of Islamabad Sunday, after having received repeated threats from Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence. Two days before his disappearance, Shehzad wrote an article suggesting that insurgents carried out the May 22 militant attack on the country’s main naval base after a navy crackdown on al Qaeda cells. Shehzad recently told a young journalist, “Don’t quit, look at me, I have faced threats and I am still reporting.”
