FIFA had no alternative but to reelect 75-year-old Sepp Blatter to a fourth term as the president of world soccer’s governing body. The Swiss incumbent cruised to a 186–17 win; he was also the only candidate, after opponent Mohamed bin Hammam withdrew amid a bribery scandal involving FIFA vice president Jack Warner. Blatter was cleared, but the organization is reeling amid allegations of corruption. In response, he’s promised to clean house, saying, “Reforms will not be just touch-ups, but radical and necessary.”
