It comes as no surprise that The Book of Mormon, Broadway's biggest success story this year, swept the Tony Awards Sunday night. The comedy about missionaries spreading Mormonism in Uganda won nine of the 14 awards for which it was nominated, including Best Musical. Directors Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker won early in the night for Best Direction in a Musical, while Matt Stone and Trey Parker from Comedy Central's South Park won the award for best score with Avenue Q's Robert Lopez. Nikki James won for Best Actress in a Musical, beating big names like Patti LuPone, Laura Benanti, and Victoria Clark. The musical also earned awards for best orchestrations and sound design. Meanwhile, the World War I epic War Horse won the award for Best Play, and The Normal Heart was named Best Revival.
