Gay marriage could soon pass a state legislature for the first time: Three Democratic lawmakers in the New York State Senate have declared their support for legalizing same-sex marriage, leaving only one Democrat opposed. All three senators-two from Queens and one from Brooklyn-voted against the same measure in 2009. The law needed six new votes to pass at the end of the week, and now depends on the Republicans who hold a majority in the chamber. They voted unanimously against it two years ago, but several have said they're now undecided. They will meet Monday to discuss their plan, paving the way for a vote on Thursday or Frdiay.
