The hacking group LulzSec said it was shutting down shop last month, but the Rupert Murdoch scandal has apparently brought it out of retirement already: the group has attacked and defaced the websites of several of Murdoch’s papers. First it posted a fake article claiming Murdoch had died from a drug overdose to the site new-times.co.uk, which has been used to tell readers about a site redesign for the Times of London. Then the group routed anyone who tried to visit The Sun’s website to that article. Finally, it went ahead and made all of News International’s papers’ websites inaccessible to the public. As of 6 a.m. Tuesday, The Sun’s website was once again functional, but the sites for the Times of London and News International were still down.
