Former News International executive Rebekah Brooks was “ruthless,” according to Michael Taggart, a reporter at The Sun in 2003. Under her leadership, Charles Begley, the News of the World Harry Potter correspondent in 2001, officially changed his name to “Harry Potter” and was continuously forced to dress up in a wizard ensemble. Begley showed up at the office without his costume on September 11, enraging NotW management. They demanded he change back into his alter ego for the next meeting, but Begley refused, and left the paper shortly thereafter. Former reporters also accuse editors of faking facts and rampant misogyny.
