The Taliban claimed Wednesday that it had been phone hacked after text messages and an Internet posting from the group falsely announced its leader Mullah Omar’s death. “Outsiders must have hacked into Taliban phones and the website,” a Taliban spokesman tells the Associated Press, noting that Omar is still “overseeing operations in the country.” The spokesman blamed U.S. intelligence; no one has come forward yet to claim responsibility.
