Could it really be? House Speaker John Boehner told lawmakers that he and President Obama may be close to a debt-deficit deal, and that he hopes the House will be able to consider the deal by next Wednesday. If that deadline holds, then the Senate would be able to approve the measure on July 30, a few days ahead of the Aug. 2 deadline. Due to Boehner’s rule that legislation be publicly available three days before a vote is held in the House, the deal would need to be made public by Monday.
