An atheist group is suing to stop the inclusion of a steel cross from the site of the fallen World Trade Center in a new museum on the memorial site. The cross was discovered during the search for survivors after the attacks in September 2001, and became a makeshift shrine and eventually an icon of the tragedy. Last weekend, it was given a symbolic blessing by a Christian minister and lowered into the museum by crane. "The Christian community found a piece of rubble that looked like an icon, and they deified it. But really 9/11 had nothing to do with Christianity," American Atheists president Dave Silverman told ABC News. "They want a monopoly, and we don't want that to happen."
