It's a scary time to be a government leader in Afghanistan. The mayor of Kandahar, Ghulam Haider Hamidi, was killed on Tuesday during an address at city hall when a man detonated a bomb hidden in his turban. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in revenge for the deaths of two children killed when Hamidi ordered illegally-constructed homes to be demolished. Two weeks ago, President Hamid Karzai's powerful half-brother, Ahmad Wali Karzai, was also killed in Kandahar.
