Scotland Yard has revealed that they have found evidence that the News of the World targeted Sara Payne, the mother of 8-year-old Sarah who was abducted and murdered in July 2000. The Paynes' personal details were found in the notes of the tabloid's investigator and voicemail-hacking specialist Glenn Mulclaire, and are believed to be related to a cell phone then-editor Rebekah Brooks gave Payne to keep in touch with her supporters. The revelation is certain to revive speculation about Brooks' involvement in the phone-hacking scandal, which she has steadfastly denied. Payne's friends told the Guardian that she is "absolutely devastated and deeply disappointed" at the news.
